Is the all-new Mazda CX-5 arriving soon in PH?
After its world debut last year, will we finally see the third-generation Mazda CX-5 arrive in PH?

Mazda distributor Bermaz Auto Philippines Inc. (BAPI) has been relatively quiet when it comes to new vehicle launches. While they did debut an improved version of the CX-60 earlier this year, their vehicle lineup, more or less, remains the same.
However, that may change soon, as Mazda Philippines recently received regulatory approval for an upcoming passenger vehicle. Based on the listing we saw, BAPI received clearance to bring a passenger vehicle that's powered by a 2488cc gasoline engine, which translates to a displacement of 2.5 liters.

Based on the engine size, it appears Mazda Philippines could be preparing to bring the next-generation CX-5. First revealed last year, the third-generation Mazda CX-5 debuted with an evolutionary redesign that features a sharper and more dynamic look. However, it also garnered mixed reactions due to its redesigned cabin.
Unlike the outgoing CX-5, the all-new model goes against Mazda's ergonomics ethos. Instead of buttons, switches, and dials to control the infotainment and climate control systems, the all-new CX-5 opted for a large 15.6-inch touchscreen to handle most in-car features.

Under the hood, the third-generation CX-5 is powered by a 2.5L electrified four-cylinder engine dubbed the e-SkyActiv-G. It makes a combined 190 PS with 252 Nm of torque and is saddled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. With its 2.5-liter displacement, the engine matches the 2488cc size that Mazda Philippines received regulatory approval for.
Besides the all-new CX-5, there's also the possibility of Mazda Philippines bringing a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the CX-60 or CX-90. That's because the same 2488cc engine powers the PHEV models of the Mazda CX-60 and CX-90. We already reported about it last year, although Mazda Philippines has yet to launch the PHEV versions of the CX-60 and the CX-90.

With the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) set to take place this June, perhaps we might get to see Mazda Philippines reveal the next-generation CX-5 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila. We're keeping our fingers crossed that our hunch will be right.
